This image evokes the idea of emptiness in my mind. The orange-brown colors give a sense of the dust and how everything became incredibly monotonous for everyone. The lone building is what reminds me of the Joad house after they are evicted off of their land. The house seems to have the feeling of past memories that have melted into the the non-suspenseful background of the colors.

The passage depicts Joad looking at a lone turtle. The turtle is alone just like the house is in the picture. The passage also explains how people are trying to escape the dust storms. The turtle is on his path to leaving as well, which makes it all the more meaningful with regards to a correlation with the painting.

In the short clip, the viewer sees what the dusts storms were like. I like how there is no sound because it was a scary time where not much was spoken. The only things that were truly brought up were fear, and this scene depicts that splendidly. I also thought it was appropriate because the colors of the film resemble the colors of the painting.
